Here, tropical living is the theme, characterised by an open-sided living & dining pavilion, balconies, roof terraces and glass doors that slide open to invite the garden inside. This is further enhanced by garden-bathrooms, an air-conditioned family room, a fully-equipped feature kitchen, a 17-metre swimming pool and a shady pergola, against a beautiful rice field backdrop. Guests enter the villa via stepping stones over an exotic lily pond and through a long hallway, which exudes space and light due to its clear pergola roof.
Bedrooms and Bathrooms
There are four air-conditioned bedrooms at Villa Dewi Sri, distinguished by an inspired use of sophisticated fabrics with a different colour scheme in each. The Zen Bedroom, in red and black, is elegantly furnished with a king-size bed and adjoins a glass-walled, air-conditioned bathroom. Here, a large bathtub rests beside glass doors which, for an alfresco bathing experience, can be slid open to a totally private, Zen inspired, Japanese garden. The Tropical Bedroom is similar, with a king size bed and a padded window seat, which doubles as spare bed for a child. Adjacent is an air-conditioned dressing room, from which a pair of old traditional Balinese doors opens into a garden bathroom, complete with a bathtub protected from the elements by an overhanging roof. The two upstairs bedrooms are accessed via a large, cool and breezy balcony terrace. There is a great view from here, while the natural grass planting on the flat roof of the living pavilion – which is reminiscent of rice ready for harvest – honours the goddess after which the villa is named, while ensuring that nothing detracts from the gorgeous surroundings. Both of the upstairs bedrooms are furnished with Hollywood twin beds that can be converted to queen size beds. The adjoining dressing rooms are open to the ensuite bathrooms, complete with standing rainshowers. From here glass doors open onto private, roof top terraces hedged by frangipanis and palms, and furnished with sunloungers.
